As Ferris Bueller once said, “life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” And let’s be real, trying to spend less time scrolling makes it easy to miss things now and then. (I just know Ferris would approve of social media breaks in 2025). So, if you had better things to do than doom scroll this week, here’s a quick recap of the cultural moments you may have missed:
Monday 17th
Monday marked St Patrick’s Day, in which the nation collectively opted to drink Guinness, wear green and re-share THAT sweet 2023 photo of Saiorse Ronan and Paul Mescal. And speaking of Irish celebs…
A24’s Opus continued to make its rounds of the box office, which meant lots of fan reviews and witty interviews with Ayo Edebiri on TikTok. (Yay!)
Sabrina Carpenter performed her second Paris show, staying on theme with a rendition of Moulin Rouge’s Lady Marmalade and a very cheeky Juno pose.
Tuesday 18th
Selena Gomez broke the internet with her ‘12 Days of Rare Stuff’ campaign after she sold her iconic character Alex Russo’s wand for $4. In preparation for her upcoming album with fiancè Benny Blanco, Gomez has been offering fans exclusive memorabilia for outrageously reduced prices. And after selling one of the most iconic props from her Disney career this week, fans are anticipating what else could possibly be on the cards.
Blank Street released their new spring flavours: Strawberry Shortcake and Rhubarb and Custard drinks in the UK, and PB&J matcha in the US.
Forbidden Fruits, a new movie starring Lola Tung, Lili Reinhart, Victoria Pedretti, Alexandra Shipp and Emma Chamberlain, was officially announced. (And yes, listing all names is absolutely necessary because what a lineup!) So far, we know the film will follow a femme cult that gathers in a mall basement after hours.
Wednesday 19th
Topshop teased their return on Instagram through a series of cryptic posts.
Glossier announced the latest addition to their iconic You perfume collection- Glossier You Fleur. The floral fragrance is salty and summery with notes of sweet apricot and ylang ylang, housed in a purple signature bottle.
The Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie turned 15. If that means nothing to you, don’t call me and don’t come by my house– we’re done!
Thursday 20th
House of Sunny released their first collection of SS25, titled ‘Made with Love’. Pieces in the first drop include cherry and gingham inspired designs, including a gorgeous cherry edition of their iconic tripper cardigan.
Friday 21st
Snow White hit the box office after month of divisive press. However, the musical adaptation starring Rachel Zegler has failed to impress critics, currently holding a 43% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Sunday 23rd (I haven’t forgotten Saturday, I just didn't see any newness)
Pretty Woman was officially released 35 years ago, which means it’s time for a rewatch and a look back at the most iconic Julia Roberts inspo. After all, Vivienne’s brown polka dot dress in the polo scene is every Pinterest girlie’s dream this spring.
Loved this!! Always love House of Sunny!
